A Trip To State For The Team And The Band
A trip to state for the volleyball team means the same thing for the band. The band will take the stage to help cheer on and support the volleyball team at the state volleyball tournament. The first trip will be on Thursday, November 12, and subsequent trips will be made on Friday and Saturday as long as the team continues to win. The trip to Lincoln will be limited to 50 band members based on seniority, and details will be given to those who will make the trip. Go Chieftains!
Go Out For Guard
Winter Guard will have auditions on Thursday, November 19, from 5:00 until 8:30 p.m. All returning, new and middle school students are welcome to try out, and the good news is that we plan to have TWO guards this year. Details will be announced at auditions.
A Change Of Season And A Change Of Schedules
All students selected for Jazz and Stage Bands will remain in band for the scheduled GPS time. All other students have been scheduled to attend GPS in their core class areas. Jazz and Stage Band members will rehearse every day except Wednesday, when they should plan to make up tests, and address other non-band classroom obligations. Please contact Mr. Hardin or Mr. Placek if you have any questions.
Parents, please remember that at the beginning of the second semester the freshmen students who were in Advanced/Marching band first hour will be transferred into the third hour Concert Band class and join their fellow freshman band members.
Concert Black – It’s All The Rage
NEW THIS YEAR!! All students will wear “concert black” for all sit-down band performances. This means all black pants, shirts and dress shoes for men (ties are optional) and ladies can wear the same, or all black dresses that are covering the knees when sitting. Please note that the clothing should be all black and have no other color or colored accents. Jeans and athletic shoes are not acceptable. Please contact Mr. Hardin if purchasing these items will be a hardship for your family, and the school can help with costs.
Gifts And Re-gifting, Auction Style
The holiday season is drawing near and we all know what that means. Gifts! If this is the year you receive that perfect gift, but it’s not really perfect for you, consider donating it to this year’s Band Booster Silent Auction. Items can be sent to school with your child. Please put your name and the estimated value of the item on each donation, so that we know where to start the bid amount and how to complete your receipt.
It’s A Date
The calendar on the web site has been updated through the end of the year. Most of the dates are firm, and details regarding events will be posted as soon as they become available. Check it out at www.chieftainband.com.
Celebration Complete
The Band Council would like to thank all the parents who helped provide food and who chaperoned for this year’s Band Council Party. A great feast and a great time was had by all, and it could not have happed without your support. Thanks!
Thanks For Your Helping Hands: A Note From Lisa Rahmlow
I'd like to thank all the parents and students who volunteered and participated in this year's 7th Annual Craft Fair. We had an increase in the number of vendors and most will be back again next year due to great sales. It would not have been possible without the awesome willingness of band parents, who pitch in whenever and wherever they are needed. I truly appreciated all the hard work and assistance. Thanks again for making this year's craft show a success!
