“EYES WITH PRIDE”
#6
September 2, 2010
Off To A Great Start
Although the outcome of last Friday’s football game did not fall in our favor, the Bellevue East Marching Band sure looked great in their first “on-field” performance of the year. The show has come a long way since the first days of Band Camp and promises to get even more impressive as props, uniforms and additional movements are added.
We were also treated to a fine performance from the Bellevue West Marching Band. We wish them the best as they compete and also represent the Bellevue Public Schools.
Enjoy the Holiday
There will be no Marching Band practice on Monday, September 6 due to the Labor Day holiday. There also will not be a Color Guard Car Wash this weekend. Enjoy the long weekend and be ready for a fast-paced schedule from here on out. The first competition is less than three weeks away!
Band Together For Freedom
On Thursday, September 9, the Marching Band will perform at the Bellevue Public Schools Freedom March held annually at Lied Activity Center. Please join us and support the men and women who serve our country and communities as well as our Bellevue East and Bellevue West bands. More details will be posted on the website next week.
Have You Ever Seen A Taco March?
Now is your chance! Consider this your formal invitation to the Marching Taco Pre-Game Party on Friday, September 10. This fun event for both Marching and Concert Band members and parents will be hosted before the football game outside the band room and marching tacos will be served. (You will have to come to the event to see what a marching taco is, but you can consider it your supper!) Marching Band students will be served at 5 pm and all parents and Concert Band students are invited to start enjoying the marching tacos at 5:30 pm.
Attention Yard Sale Shoppers
The annual Band Booster yard sale will take place on Saturday, September 11, on the grounds of Sonic Restaurant on Cornhusker Road. The event will run from 9 am to 3 pm. What we will be selling? Your donations, of course! Start saving your donations today. Donations will be accepted at the site beginning at 7 am. All donations must be pre-priced (except clothing) and all unsold donations will be given to a charitable organization. Sorry, donations of telephones, communication devices, computers, computer screens or computer towers will not be accepted.
This fundraiser provides you a great opportunity to reduce the balance in your child’s Marching Band account. All monies raised will be divided based on the number of volunteer hours worked. Parents and students can both volunteer and get credit, but please note that volunteers will get credit for hours worked only. In other words, volunteers who wander into Sonic for an hour will not receive credit for that time. If you can’t work during the day, but would still like to get credit, we are looking for boosters with trucks or flatbeds who can transport tables from Bellevue East to Sonic at around 7 am and 3 pm.
There will be sign-up sheets available for students in the Band Room. Parents should review the yard sale sign-up sheet attached to the Band Notes e-mail and contact Vicki Orman at

Chaperone News
For those parents who volunteered to be chaperones but were unable to attend Monday’s Chaperone Meeting, please fill out the chaperone form attached to the Band Notes e-mail and provide to Doug Valentine or a band staff member as soon as possible.
Wear Your Button Proudly
During Band Camp, the Band Boosters take a picture of each student in uniform, which is then used to make a button for a parent to wear. Each student's family receives one button, complements of the Band Boosters. Parents may pick up their student's button from the Uniform Parents.
If you'd like to order additional buttons, they can be purchased for $3 each. To order more buttons, please drop a note, along with payment for the buttons, in the payment box in the band room. We will then get the buttons made as quickly as possible for you to pick up.
